Cultivating Resilience in a Pandemic

The COVID-19 pandemic exposes the powerful human need for community and interaction, and social distancing and quarantine requirements represent a nontrivial challenge to the mental health and resilience of everyone affected. Prolonged isolation is widely considered cruel and unusual punishment when humans inflict it on one another. Besides this isolation, many of us face previously unthought-of challenges to educating and supervising our children and caring for elderly family members, all while trying to keep body and soul together. This crisis goes far beyond illness caused by a virus. The need for mental health self-care hasn’t been this urgent in a generation.
